The investigators from the Arizona Department of Gaming and members of the Phoenix Police Department has arrested a man for operating illegal gaming facility in Phoenix.
The arrest which was made Wednesday 7, was a result of a served search warrant at a business called ”Surf Link” located at 8021 N 43rd Avenue.
The arrested man, who his name was not made know at the press time will be charged on multiple offences which includes operating an illegal gaming facilities, promoting illegal gambling and racketeering.
Seven people believes to be customers inside the gaming facility were also arrested during the operation for varoius outstanding warrants or drug offences. According to a statement from ADG, these people may be charged at the court of law for illegal gambling.
Before the raid the investigators have been monitoring the business for about three months and it was found to be operating as a sweepstakes base internet cafe.
The illegal gambling operation allowed paying customers to play casino style games on computer inside the business. The games similated what is often seen on the screen of electronic slot machines inside regulated casino.
It should be noted that Arizona Department of Gaming does not take complaint about illegal gambling lightly, because the business is often sited near neighborhood and it can easily attract violent crime to the area.
The effort of the Arizona Department of Gaming and local police department to curtail illegal gambling has lead to the closure of dozen illegal gambling operation over the past year.
