Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited announced on 23rd December 2015, that it has completed the acquisition of Playtime Gaming. The acquisition of Playtime gaming signify the next phase in the Gateway growth strategy, for by acquiring Playtime six new properties are added to the company, thereby making it the largest and most diversified gaming company in Canada.
Acquisition of Playtime Gaming swell the number of gaming properties at the disposal of Gateway to 18, with more than 200 tables, over 6100 slot machines. Together with business partners Gateway Casinos operate 30 restaurants, 1000 hotel rooms and has 3800 employee.
Strategic acquisition like this has improved Gateway profitability and it’s customers experience. In three-years period ending in the fall of 2016, it is estimated that $250 million will have been invested to build gateway properties as entertainment, gaming and culinary destination.
With the acquisition of Playtime, Gateway distribution will now spread into four new markets including Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. Meanwhile the company is happy to transformational growth and investment to these new properties and the host communities.
The acquisition includes the purchase of all Playtime assets, operation and the transition of an estimated 300 employees in Abbotsford, Courtenay, Campbell River, Langley, Penticton and Victoria.
Meanwhile, Mr Tom Nellis, the former owner of Playtime has been asked to continue in an advisory capacity of the company to effect smooth transition of operations and employees. He will serve in the capacity throughout the transition period.
Playtime properties will henceforth report to Mr Jag Nijjar – Senior Vice President of Operation GCE- who will also lead the transition for Gateway base in Burnaby, BC.
