16.5.2015 The New York State Gaming Facility Location Board unanimously approved Rush Street Gaming’s River Casino & Resort at Mohawk Harbor for a gaming facility license from the New York State Gaming Commission. This was the only gaming facility application to be approved in New York Capital Region.
The Rivers Casino and Resort which is estimated to gulp a whopping $300 million on completion will features a 50,000 sq ft gaming floor, 1150 slot gaming machines and 66 gaming tables. Other amenities that will feature at the casino facilities includes a high end steakhouse, a ‘marketplace’ with lite fare restaurants, an entertainment lounge, banquet facilities and a spa. The property will also have 150 rooms hotel and a parking garage, both will be attached to the gaming facility. According to the publication on Rush Street Gaming website, some other part of the project are public outdoor open spaces, riverfront walkingand biking trail.
This gaming facility project is integral part of the $150 million mixed-used Mohawk Harbor waterfront development currently under construction by the Galesi Group and it is going to be built on one of the oldest brownfield in the county: the former site of the America Locomotive Company.
Rivers Casino and Resort on completion is expected to create an estimated 1200 permanent job, while some other 1400 construction job will be created during building. Some of the job vacancies will be filled by the arrangement with Schenectady County Community College and It’s Casino and Gaming Management Program.
